London District Synod

The Representative session of the London District Synod meets in the Main Hall at Westminster Central Hall. On Saturday September 12th the main theme was 'Church without walls'. It was introduced with a DVD from 'Applecart'. We heard about support for released offenders; issues to do with faith and culture; 'Ladies that Brunch' and 'Toddler Praise'; and, finally, the Street Pastor Scheme.

The afternoon session was opened with news of work with the District's young people and then I was invited to explore the main theme. To set the tone for this I did a spirited rendering of an old hymn tune on the piano, which moved many people and maybe helped explain why I'm only an assistant organist at Muswell Hill.

The main synod business was well contained in a slot of less than an hour, and a good day of meeting and hearing about exciting things going on came to an end with worship led by the children's choir from Herne Hill.
